Color Club - Fashion Addict

You girls are THE BEST.

One of the Color Club recommendations I received was Fashion Addict.  And, boy howdy, this does not disappoint (although I will do a sunlight swatch to make sure I catch it in all its beauty).

Do I really need to tell you that this formula is to die for and that it's just one of the most perfect lacquers ever?  No?  Good.

Cos it is.  Someone get me a job at Color Club stat.

YGN in the News - American Apparel Seen and Submitted

I was super excited when Martine from American Apparel contacted me and asked if I wanted to be part of their Seen and Submitted feature.

I'm an egotistical little thing so I was totally like 'OMG YES CAN I PAY FOR YOUR FIRST BORN TO GO THROUGH COLLEGE'.

I don't say this enough to you guys but I really do appreciate every visit, every comment and every email I have received.  As many of you know, this blog was started during a very dark time in my life but, in many ways, it gave me the butt kick I sorely needed to pull everything together.  For everyone who has played a role in this site over the last year, I consider you my friends and family and I am forever grateful.

Ok, now I have to go and kick a kitten or something to cut through the treacle. KIDDING!

Debbilia - #74

Debbilia, hey?  It sounds like some kind of tropical disease.  Or an interesting, if somewhat convoluted, variation of the name Debbie.

As some of you may recall, this lacquer was a find during my Fiji holiday.  The cremes I found had all separated but the glitters were in immaculate condition.

Ha! I didn't even warn you that mega close-up of my cuticle was coming.  Sorry.

This lacquer is most definitely a layering lacquer (here I have layered it over an LA Splash blue that I will be showing on its own later this week).  It's a clear base with round, square and string shaped glitters.  It's surprisingly dense so you only need one coat to get the above effect.  Of course, the stringy bits are the hardest to get out of the bottle using the brush.  If you're a string glitter gal, just get an orange stick, fish the glitter out and place on the nail.

Drying time is average.  Unfortunately, Seche Vite just seems to move the glitter around so this is a lacquer that will require patience and lots of air.

All up, for a neat little find in Fiji, this is a great little lacquer.

Just one thing.  The name.  If you have a better name than #74, let me know in the comments.

China Glaze - Fortune Teller - Take II

One of my favourite lacquers of all time is China Glaze's Fortune Teller.  So let's welcome an encore performance from this most lovely lacquer.

Some of you will recall that this was a lemming that kinda went wrong for me.  I was expecting this to be an orange Lubu Heels and, when it wasn't, I was five different types of angry.

I couldn't stay angry for long though.  It's the mixture of glitter sizes.  It's the creamy formula.  It's the fact that it looks so freaking amazing.

Sure cleanup is a pain in the a**, especially if you get a glitter piece in an odd place (check out my ring finger to see why cleanup is a pain - I can't shift the glitter without removing it entirely and ruining my finish).  And you need a good thick coat of Seche Vite to even out the finish.

But this is an absolute keeper and I'm glad to have it in my collection.

Color Club - Electro Candy

After yesterday's hot mess, I wanted to make sure that today's lacquer was sublime.

Electro Candy is gorgeous.

It's hard to capture on camera but this is a pink with flashes of green through it.  I think you can see the green emerging in the close-up photo.

As with all Color Clubs I've tried, the formula is superb.  The colour is divine.  And it reminds me of the 1980s which, as you all know, is a happy place for me.

Now let's never speak of TBN's Purple Rain ever again.
