Eyeko - Punk & Chi Chi + Rosie Lee Comparison

I think I must be the 432nd blogger to post these so... I don't know... just pretend to be surprised and in awe.

Punk and Chi Chi are two limited edition lacquers that continue Eyeko's legacy of developing on trend lacquers.  Punk is a glorious bubble gum pink that is creamy and delicious.  Chi Chi is a pink glitter in a milky base.

I must say, the formula on Eyeko lacquers just keep on getting better and better.  When I compare Punk and Chi Chi to the original lacquers released last year, you could really be talking about two different brands.

Eyeko - Disco Polish

I don't know if Eyeko are even selling Disco Polish anymore but, hot damn, they should be.

This is one of the best glitter polishes I've come across.  Two coats and it's done.  And, seriously, isn't that one of the nicest glitters you've seen!

This does dry to a rough finish so you will need Seche Vite to smooth it out.  Oh, and it's an absolute pain in the a** to remove but, then, aren't all dense glitters?

For under $5, this is a worthy investment if you can still find it.

Eyeko - Petite, Coral, Tea Rose, Posh and Vampira Polish

I was lucky enough to trial even more of Eyeko's new nail lacquers, courtesy of Eyeko's superfly Larissa.

Larissa sent a fantastic range of colours, including the much talked about Posh and Vampira lacquers which are reputed to be, respectively, Chanel Particuliere and RBL Black Russian / China Glaze Lubu Heels / Milani Garnet Gems dupes.

Eyeko - Vintage, Nude & Lilac Polish

Eyeko is such a super little brand.

I swear by their Big Eye Mascara and it doesn't matter how much I've drunk the night before, their 3-in-1 Cream gives me the skin of a newborn.  And it comes in the most humongous container.  I've had it over a year now and it's still only a third of the way used.

So I was thrilled when Larissa from Eyeko contacted me and asked if I wanted to trial some of their new polish range.  Uh, is the Pope Catholic?

You've Got Duped - Skin Food Ice Vs Eyeko Pastel Polish

Mmmm, so I decided to do that side by side of Skin Food's Ice vs Eyeko's Pastel Polish.

I think the colours are reasonably close, however, there are some really obvious differences.

Firstly, the Eyeko is a 'truer' blue than Ice, which is paler and cooler in tone.

Also, while Ice is a true cream, Pastel Polish has a definite shimmer to it.

Finally, I much prefer the finish on the Pastel Polish than Ice. The Eyeko shines and gleams whilst the Skin Food looks alot 'thicker' on the nail and a little dull.

But they are close and, if you weren't looking for the differences like I am, I don't believe you could tell these two apart.

Having said that, these polishes are both available for under $5 at the moment so, if the point of a dupe is to find a cheaper option, then you're really only saving pennies here. And, if you're like me - a lacquer-holic - you'll probably end up buying both, right?

You've Got Duped - Saucy Red Polish vs O'Hare and Nails Look Great

I mentioned earlier today that I thought Eyeko's Saucy Red Polish could be a dupe for OPI's O'Hare and Nails Look Great?

Here they are, side by side.

Now, the lighting is different so you're going to have to trust my eye witness account when I say that, if I were to interchange these on my nails (Eyeko on one nail and OPI on the next), you would not be able to tell them apart.

However, whilst the colour is a perfect replica, I should mention that the lacquer itself is not. Application is also more problematic with the Eyeko versus the smooth gloriousness of OPI's Pro Wide brush and creamy formulation.

Nonetheless, if you want the OPI look, without the OPI price, then Saucy Red is a dupe for the ages.

Eyeko - Saucy Red Polish

I don't think any Halloween would be complete without a splash of red.

Eyeko's Saucy Red polish is like tabasco sauce. Hot and you only need a little to have an impact.

This is a super hot red. I'd say it leans towards the orange side, but it's still a classic, old Hollywood red. I can totally imagine Rita Hayworth wearing this in Gilda (one of my favourite movies of all time).

I also think it might be a close dupe to OPI's O'Hare and Nails Look Great. I'll do a side by side this afternoon and get your opinion. If so, then this is a cheap alternative to an OPI classic.

My only issue with the Eyeko lacquers so far is the brush. Well, not the brush as such, but the lid. It's so diddy and light that I have trouble getting a good grasp of it and, as a consequence, my application is never as good as with other, more substantial lids. Are any of you finding the same problem?

Whatever the application issues, Eyeko lacquers are super good and, now even more cheap than ever. I thought I was getting a good deal at 9 pounds. These are now available for a crazy 5.40 pounds. That's $USD8.80 or $AUD10.50. That's for all SIX lacquers. I think that's an excuse for an Eyeko haul in any language!

Casual Friday - For Leanne

I'm dedicating this little bit of nail art to the gorgeous, Leanne, of Do Not Refreeze. I only have a brother but, if I were able to have a sister, I'd want her to be like Leanne. She's just fab.

In my post of Eyeko's Pastel Polish, Leanne wondered how the Eyeko polishes would fare if they were used with the Konad Stamper. Well, Leanne, wonder no more, because here it is!

This is Australis Sapphire Blue as the base with Eyeko's Pastel Polish as the Konad stamp imprint. I chose the stars just because I wanted to create a crisp and cloudless autumn evening where you look up and all you can see are a plethora of milky stars that twinkle.

So, how did the Eyeko fare? Really well. Because Pastel Polish is not a one-coat and you're opaque colour, you can see the Australis colour come through the stars. For me, it takes this from being one colour stamped on another, to a creation that is perfectly melded together.

So what do you guys think? A success?

Eyeko - Pastel Polish

I have a veritable treasure trove of Eyeko products (fat balm, 3-in-1 cream, mascara) and, now, I have my hands on their nail polishes, which I picked up when Eyeko had all six colours on sale for a crazy 9 pounds.

Part of my insane love for Eyeko is the price. Everything is super cheap (even when converting from British Pounds to Australian Dollars).

The products are all great quality. I never fail to be impressed at how well they compare to higher end cosmetics.

And their customer service is a joy to behold - quick (it took four days for my polishes to get from the UK to Australia), responsive and unfailingly helpful. When you order online as much as I do, customer service becomes so important. These guys are great in that department.

Pastel Polish is an amazing shimmering blue. I absolutely adore it. It is, without question, my favourite colour for Spring 2009.

This glides on easily and dries super fast. Which is good because it takes about four coats before it becomes opaque and non-streaky.

Once this is on, it doesn't move. The swatch on the right is after four days of wear. I think I've told you guys before that I am tough on my hands, so for a lacquer to hold that shine with no tip wear? Outstanding!
